After surviving a near-fatal shooting earlier this year, Skilla Baby is stepping back into the spotlight—with help from none other than 50 Cent.
Sources tell TMZ the Detroit rapper held two invite-only listening sessions this week in Los Angeles for his upcoming album, The Price Of Fame. The first went down at Interscope’s offices in Santa Monica, where 50 himself and Geffen Records’ Aaron “Dash” Sherrod broke down the album’s concept and rollout.
In a very 50 move, the rap icon isn’t just co-signing from the sidelines—he’s narrating the entire project. Think Get Rich or Die Tryin’ energy, filtered through Skilla’s Detroit perspective.
The album is set to reflect Skilla Baby’s full range, from street war stories to his more charismatic, ladies’ man side. That duality hits harder considering what Skilla’s been through. Back in May, he was shot during a drive-by in Detroit when a dark SUV pulled up and sprayed over 20 rounds at his car. He was grazed in the head and back and caught a bullet to the hand before crashing into a nearby building.
Rather than disappearing, Skilla’s been locked in. His relationship with 50 Cent—part mentor, part big homie—has been a real factor in that. In a 2024 interview with AllHipHop, Skilla opened up about how their bond came together:
“My manager Roccett, who’s BMF, connected us,” Skilla said. “Fifty has been a huge mentor—advice, opportunities—he really pushes me in the right direction. He does a lot behind the scenes for people, and he doesn’t even brag about it. I appreciate that.”
At the private sessions, Skilla reportedly thanked both 50 and Dash for giving him something to focus on instead of chasing revenge back home.
No official release date yet, but one thing’s clear: Skilla Baby’s comeback isn’t just about music—it’s about survival. And he’s making sure everyone hears it, in his voice and 50’s.
