Spotify, the popular music streaming app, is always looking for innovative new ways to enhance the user experience. And their latest addition to the streaming service is an interesting one, to say the least.
Spotify Adds Direct Message Feature to Platform for Users
Spotify is set to add a new direct message feature to the streaming service.
One way that the streaming service has managed to stay on top for so long is by listening to user recommendations. In a press release on Tuesday (August 26), the streaming service said that they had received countless requests from current users to be able to share music across the platform. And as usual, they have delivered.
“Spotify users have told us they want a dedicated space within the app to share songs, podcasts, or audiobooks they’re excited about with friends and family, and an easy way to keep track of recommendations,” they wrote in the release.
“For artists, authors, and creators, easier sharing means more word-of-mouth recommendations and helps create new fans. Our goal is to give users what they want and make those moments of connection more seamless and streamlined in the Spotify app.”
Spotify also noted that they prioritized user safety with the new feature as it will put users in the “driver’s seat.” They will have the opportunity to accept or reject message requests from friends.
They also honed in on how the feature will open up “opportunities” for creators.
“Messages also open up new opportunities for artists, authors, and creators—more users can spread the word about an artist’s track or creator’s podcast with their friends and family, helping drive discovery,” the release adds.
The app will be available “this week” for all users ages 16 and older. However, it will only be available on mobile devices in select markets.
