The Keefe D trial is close to starting up as witnesses have been listed. However, a few names from the over 200 potential testifiers raised some eyebrows.
Who Could Testify In The Keefe D/Tupac Murder Trial?
According to Las Vegas’ KSNV 3 News, the filing includes a wide range of law enforcement officials, forensic experts, records custodians, expert witnesses, and the usual suspects to a case of this magnitude. However, most notably, several music executives and members of Tupac Shakur’s family have been listed.
Of the 200 names, several turn heads. Most notably, Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight, who was riding in the passenger seat of the BMW when Shakur was shot, is listed as a potential witness. Others include Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo. Lombardo served as a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department during the investigation’s early days. Additionally, former LAPD Detective Greg Kading, who has long maintained that Davis admitted his role in the shooting during a 2009 interview with investigators, is expected to testify against Keefe.
For Suge’s part, when asked about the shooting previously, his latest claims allege Shakur’s mom Afeni tried to end his life in the hospital, at Pac’s request. Pac believed the Casino brawl would end up resulting in him going back to jail and allegedly asked both Suge and Afeni to end his life. Doctors revived Pac, much to Afeni’s alleged anger, though it would be all for not, as he’d die while in a medically induced coma due to his injuries. As of this writing, we could not find a quote from Suge about who killed Pac. However, we did find a source who claimed back in 2023 that Suge would not testify against Keefe and that police had the shooter wrong. Though, with new evidence, Suge’s statements may change.

No Wins For The Former Crips Gang Member
After losing the decision to keep his memoir, which discussed the murder of Tupac, out of evidence, Keefe D’s defense team tried to get police interviews back in 2008 omitted as well.
Allegedly, Keefe D told police in the interview that he and his crew pulled up on Shakur, and his nephew, Orlando Anderson, “popped them.” Anderson denied involvement in Shakur’s killing at the time. He died two years later in an unrelated gang shooting.
Keefe D says he only talked to the police for fear of his family’s safety, and asserts those comments should have been stricken from the record due to detectives assuring him confidentiality.
However, in 2019, Keefe D wrote a memoir, Compton Street Legend, which detailed orchestrating the murder of Shakur. While the former gang higher up says the book was exaggerated and had elements of fantasy, therefore not being the full truth, prosecutors say because he wrote the book, he violated his agreement with the LAPD, and is therefore free game in trial.
The trial is set to begin August 10th and prosecutors now have free reign to use any of Keefe D’s past statements or writings as evidence.
