Last Friday (March 22), Tip was honored at the Georgia State Capitol for his philanthropic efforts in his beloved city. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, State Sen. Donzella James saluted T.I. for creating several nonprofit organizations, including Harris Community Works, which helps low-income families, and For the Love of Our Fathers, which assists with people living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
In addition, T.I. has hosted annual Thanksgiving turkey drives and delivered presents to needy families during the Christmas season throughout the city.
T.I.’s social activism has been widely publicized. In October 2018, in association with Dynasty Real Estate Development and APD-Urban Planning and Management, T.I. launched his Buy Back the Block initiative in which he is buying and flipping buildings in gentrified neighborhoods. Tip also teamed up with Killer Mike to save ATL restaurant Bankhead Seafood from shutting down.
“With as much growth and opportunity that’s going on in my community—and, you know, Mike’s community as well— we refuse to [leave it] behind,” T.I. told ABC News.
Congratulations to T.I. on this honor and for making an impact in his Atlanta community.
