The man accused of killing Migos rapper Takeoff is assembling a high-profile legal team as his long-awaited trial approaches.
According to court records obtained by XXL on March 23, Patrick Clark has secured new representation from prominent Texas attorneys Kent Schaffer, Anthony Osso, and Dan Cogdell. Schaffer, a veteran criminal defense attorney with more than four decades of experience, has previously represented Rap-A-Lot Records CEO J. Prince. Osso has also reportedly worked alongside Prince’s legal team in past cases, adding further weight to Clark’s defense.
Clark is charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Takeoff, which occurred on November 1, 2022, outside a Houston bowling alley following a private afterparty hosted by J. Prince Jr. The case has faced several delays, but it is currently scheduled to go to trial on November 5.
With roughly eight months remaining before jury selection begins, Clark’s decision to bring in a seasoned and well-connected defense team signals a major development in one of hip-hop’s most closely watched legal cases.
