The parents of late rapper Takeoff are locked in a legal battle over settlement money tied to his wrongful death case.
According to court documents, his mother, Titania Davenport, claims she raised the Migos rapper as a single parent and says his father, Kenneth Ball, was largely absent throughout his life. She alleges Ball provided little financial or emotional support, while Takeoff continued to support her financially as his career took off, reportedly buying her a home, cars and covering most of her living expenses.
Despite those claims, Ball argues he’s still entitled to half of the settlement funds and wants a Texas court to decide how the money should be divided. Davenport believes the matter should instead be handled in Georgia, where Takeoff’s probate case was filed.
A judge has not yet ruled on the dispute.
Takeoff was fatally shot outside a Houston bowling alley on Nov. 1, 2022, at age 28. Patrick Xavier Clark has been charged in the case and is expected to stand trial later this year.
