Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s latest venture into storytelling is heading to television. His recently released novel The Accomplice, co-written with Aaron Philip Clark, is being developed into a new drama series at Peacock.
Taraji P. Henson, known for her standout roles in Empire and Hidden Figures, is set to star as Nia Adams — a fearless Texas Ranger tracking master thief Desmond Bell, whose newest heist targets one of America’s richest families. As Nia gets closer to capturing him, she unravels a dangerous conspiracy that forces her to choose between exposing the truth or protecting the very system she’s sworn to uphold.
The series is being produced by UCP, Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television, and Henson’s TPH Entertainment. Both Jackson and Henson will serve as executive producers. A writer has yet to be attached.
The project comes on the heels of Henson’s growing slate of work — including a two-film deal with Netflix and a new first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios for both scripted and unscripted projects she may also star in.
As for 50 Cent, his TV empire continues to expand. He recently announced the British boxing drama Fightland for Starz, home of his ever-growing Power franchise, which includes Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Force, Power: Origins, and Power: Legacy. He’s also developing Hip Hop Cop at Hulu, based on Ron Stallworth’s memoir The Gangs of Zion, and is producing a Netflix docuseries centered on Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Another major move for both stars — and another reason TV fans will be watching closely.
