Jay-Z is one of the most connected people in the music industry. But perhaps his strongest connection is to the NFL and the Super Bowl.
Jay-Z’s record label, Roc Nation, has a partnership with the NFL. And as part of the partnership, the label plays a major role in selecting the halftime performer for the Super Bowl each year. After the controversy with Kendrick Lamar being chosen as the halftime performer for last year’s big game, all eyes were focused on which artist would be chosen to headline 2026.
Taylor Swift Breaks Silence on Jay-Z, Super Bowl Rumors
Before Bad Bunny was officially named the headliner, one of the names that continually came up as the halftime performer was Taylor Swift. Given her obvious connection to the NFL as the fiancée of Travis Kelce, it seemed like a no-brainer.
Several reports suggested that Jay-Z offered Swift the opportunity to headline the Halftime Show. But she declined his offer.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Swift finally addressed those rumors. During that conversation, the pop star revealed that Jay-Z did take her temperature about performing at the halftime show, but an official offer was not made to her.
“Here’s the thing,” she said. “Jay-Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say How does she feel about… And that’s not an official offer or a conference room conversation.
She also noted that if an official offer was made, she would likely decline. Because all of her energy is invested in supporting her fiancé, Kelce.
“We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. That is violent chess,” she continued. “That is gladiators without swords, that is dangerous. The whole season, I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field.”
