The Game has gained a reputation throughout the music industry for stretching the truth. And he may have been caught red-handed after his most recent comments about his relationship with rap star Kendrick Lamar.
Game Called Out By TDE Affiliate Over Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar has obviously gone on to become a viral superstar. But during a recent interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Game claimed that he saw the potential Lamar had when he was still a diamond in the rough. Even before TDE, which ultimately signed him.
“I was a little bit ahead of the curve than where they were. I was always asking Top, I was like, ‘Yo, let me get Dot.’ He was like, ‘No, no.’ He knew what he was, and I knew what he was,” the rapper claimed (via Akademiks).
“When I took Jay Rock on tour, Dot was the hype man. And I asked Top again at my house in Glendale… He was like, ‘No.’ But he was like, ‘Yo, what if we piece up TDE? I was like, ‘No, I got Black Wall Street, I’m good.’ Let me get him as an artist. I knew what he was gon to be. And nobody understands it yet, except everybody who was around Top and TDE. They knew. And I knew.”
However, TDE’s head of security, 2Teez, claimed that the rapper had made up the entire story.
“Blood faking he never wanted to sign Kendrick!!!!!” he wrote in the comments section of the Instagram post (via Akademiks).
However, some fans in the comments section of the post felt like the rapper’s comments were valid.
“A lot of people discovered Kendrick and Nipsey through game, tho. But people are gonna rewrite history now,” one user wrote on Instagram.
“Tbh a lot of us were first introduced to Kendrick through the game, especially for the audience worldwide outside of the United States, and that’s a fact,” another user added.
