TDE president Terrence “Punch” Henderson was recently a guest on the Joe Budden Podcast. And he addressed the criticisms surrounding label artist Doechii.
TDE Punch Hits Against Doechii ‘Industry Plant’ Claims
Doechii’s rise to fame seemingly came out of nowhere. She signed to TDE in November 2022, and less than four years later, she is a two-time Grammy-winner. This has prompted many people to accuse her of being an industry plant. However, Punch hit back against that notion. And noted that Doechii’s climb to the top has been well-documented.
“You can trace back her whole thing. She was on YouTube saying, ‘I quit my job, I’m finna pursue this music thing,'” he said. “When I hear that, it just makes me realize that people don’t understand business; they misinterpret certain things. If a label does their job, they consider that artist an industry plant.”

One of the main people to accuse Doechii of being an industry plant was streaming star Adin Ross. Doechii hit back at the streamer in December, when she dropped her single, Girl Get Up, with SZA. And she didn’t hold back.
“All that industry plant sh** wack, I see it on the blogs, I see you in the chats, you suck every rap n****a d**k from the back, but what’s the agenda when the it girl black? Y’all can’t fathom that I work this hard, and y’all can’t fathom that I earned this chart,” she raps on the song (via @fearedbuck/X)
Doechii also appears to call out the streaming star for being “misogynistic” towards her.
“These n*****s are misogynistic, I’ll address it on the album. For now, let’s sink into the fact that hate doesn’t make you powerful,” she added.
