Teddy Riley took to Instagram to publicly apologize to Keith Sweat, sharing a heartfelt video message aimed at clearing up any confusion surrounding recent comments.
In the caption accompanying the video, Riley emphasized that there is no bad blood between the two R&B legends.
“Clearing the air with respect and intention,” he wrote. “Keith Sweat @keithsweat is my brother. We’re family. My words were taken out of context, and I never want there to be confusion about where my heart stands.”
Riley explained that the original conversation centered around business matters and how record labels benefited from music they created — not about tearing each other down. He noted that two artists can acknowledge being shortchanged while still maintaining love and respect for one another.
“Gratitude is real. Brotherhood is real. And respect will always come first,” Riley concluded.
The message appears to put any speculation to rest, reaffirming the longstanding bond between the New Jack Swing pioneer and the R&B hitmaker.
