R. Kelly is currently serving a 31-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and a bevy of other heinous crimes. However, the singer isn’t letting the three-decade sentence put a hamper on his music career.
Teddy Riley Teases New Music From R. Kelly
The Chocolate Factory creator celebrated his 59th birthday on Thursday (January 8). And among the tributes that R. Kelly received was legendary producer Teddy Riley. In his birthday tribute to the R&B sensation, Riley also appeared to hint at R. Kelly having new music dropping soon.
“Still the King of R&B Bar None!!!!” he said in his Instagram post on Thursday. “Can’t wait for y’all to hear the new music!!! Til then, teaser missiles will be dropping!!! It’s about that time for real music!!! “
However, many of Riley’s followers were disappointed with his post that praised the R&B star. Given the heinous nature of his crimes.
“The unwavering support for pedophilia, rape, grooming, & kidnapping is mind-blowing & heartbreaking,” one fan wrote in the comments section of the social media post.
“I could never knowingly promote for someone convicted of the type of human abuses that R Kelly’s been convicted of,” another user remarked.
However, some were excited about getting new music from Kellz.
“We need his music back in the world. He is one of the best to ever do it,” another user chimed in.
This won’t be the first new music that fans have heard from R. Kelly since his incarceration.
Last March, he remixed Chris Brown’s hit song Residuals while proclaiming his innocence.
“They’re still selling my music, making all this money. Don’t even send shit to my folks for commissary. Though I’m in this place, I know I don’t deserve this. There’s questions on my mind / There are questions on my mind,” he sings on the track.
It will be interesting to see what Kellz and Riley have in store.
