Teyana Responds to Backlash Over Yankee Stadium Performance
However, Tey Tey became the subject of backlash over her performance. After many fans clowned her for missing the mark on the vocals during her and Jay-Z’s performance. Taylor recently responded to the backlash in a social media post. And claimed that the sound in her headphones was off. But said that the reception that she got from the fans in attendance was all that mattered in the grand scheme of things.
“The sound & in-ears said “Not today.” 😂 But guess what?? The gratitude was louder than any mic could ever be,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Monday (July 13). 🥹 I may not have been able to hear a damnnnnn thanggggg. 😩 But one thing I could do was SEE. I got to see this lil Harlem girl stand beside the GOAT.”
She also said that being able to stand on that stage with Jay-Z in Yankee Stadium, just minutes from the neighborhood where she was raised, was a full-circle moment.
“If you would’ve told this lil Harlem girl that one day she’d share a stage with JAY-Z in one of the most iconic stadiums in the world. She would’ve never believed you,” she added.
“Father God has a funny way of reminding you just how far you’ve come. One minute you’re caught up in everything that’s going wrong. And the next, He gently reminds you that you’re standing in the middle of a prayer you once whispered as a little girl.”
