Complex dropped its list of the Top 50 Los Angeles rappers on Friday (May 30), and not everyone was feeling the rankings. One in particular? The Game. And let’s just say—he wasn’t exactly quiet about it.

Coming in at No. 11, the Documentary rapper didn’t hold back. He hit his Instagram Story with a series of posts, throwing up crying-laughing emojis and writing, “@complex smokin that good dope.”
He followed it up with a screenshot of a comment he left under the post: “Game at 11 is nasty work… I’ll bust that whole list a#%!!!!”
But he didn’t stop there.
The Game Believes He’s Top Five in LA
The next day, The Game came through with his own list—The Top 100 LA Rappers—and this time, he made sure the rankings looked a little more “accurate” in his eyes. He slotted himself in at No. 5, sandwiched between Kendrick Lamar at No. 4 and Kurupt at No. 6. Topping his list? 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube.
For what it’s worth, Complex gave Kendrick the No. 1 spot—and even credited The Game as one of the first major artists to consistently put Dot on tracks before the world caught on. Respect where it’s due.
The rest of Complex’s upper tier was stacked with West Coast royalty. Snoop, Cube, and Dr. Dre all landed high, each with their own legacy carved into the concrete. Dre gave the coast its sonic blueprint. Cube brought the real-life grit. And Snoop? He turned gangsta rap into a smooth-talking, worldwide phenomenon.
Complex didn’t overlook the OGs either. DJ Quik got his props for his pristine G-funk production, and Ice-T—one of the first to spit raw street truths—got his flowers too.
Whether you agree with the list or not, one thing’s clear: LA hip-hop runs deep, and the debate over who deserves what spot isn’t likely to cease anytime soon.
