The Game is set to release his new Gangsta Grillz Mixtape with Philadelphia legend DJ Drama. And it is already causing quite the stir.
Game Explains the Meaning Behind Candace Owens’ Song
When The Game revealed the tracklist for the upcoming project on Monday (December 1), fans were shocked by the 13th track. Titled, The Assassination of Candace Owens.
Owens is a far-right American political commentator and author. And her comments have a tendency to toe the line. Particularly when it comes to issues within the black community.
The title is particularly controversial. Especially after far-right American political commentator and author Charlie Kirk was assassinated during a rally earlier this year. However, Game insists that he isn’t trying to incite anything. It’s just the title of the song.
He told TMZ that he “metaphorically took her conspiracies and flipped them into a song.”
He also told the outlet that the song is a “piece of masterpiece theater” and that it was “no diss aimed at Candace.” However, he appears ready for the smoke if she does respond, noting that he is “lyrically armed and ready” should it come to that.
However, users on social media did not appear to be very impressed.
“All this extra weird s**t he’s doing still not going to work when that mixtape drops. It’s not enough,” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“This interview is clearly rehearsed. He is trying to be relevant again,” another person added.
