New York City’s iconic hip-hop radio station Hot 97 has tapped Bronx native The Kid Mero as its new weekday morning host, with HOT 97 Mornings with Mero debuting Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning January 13.
Mero, a Dominican-American comedian, writer, and media personality known for his sharp humor and cultural insight, steps into the spotlight following the cancellation of Ebro in the Morning — the long-running Hot 97 show hosted by Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez that aired its final broadcast in December after more than a decade on the air.
The new morning program aims to blend music, culture, sports, and current events with Mero’s trademark wit and authenticity, offering listeners a fresh take on the city’s daily dialogue. Station leadership says Mero’s energy and connection to New York’s cultural pulse make him a fitting successor as Hot 97 looks to evolve its morning lineup.
With a career spanning television, podcasts, and digital media, Mero brings a unique voice to traditional radio, promising a show that’s both entertaining and reflective of the diverse audience that tunes into Hot 97 each day.
Listeners can catch HOT 97 Mornings with Mero on Hot 97’s FM frequency and streaming platforms starting January 13, 6 a.m.–10 a.m. ET.
