If you wanna feel old, just watch a clip of the New Boyz reuniting this year. Yes, you read that right, the New Boyz, known for bringing the Jerk dance to middle school dances across the country, linked back up for the first time in several years.
As caught by Power 106, Earl “Ben J” Benjamin and Dominic “Legacy” Thomas came together again, and even showed they can still dance (kind of).
The New Boyz rose to prominence during the MySpace rap days, when their song “You’re A Jerk,” went viral and became a cornerstone of ringtone rap. Other songs such as their collab with Ray J “Tie Me Down,” Chris Brown on “Better With The Lights Off,” and IYAZ on “Break My Bank,” all charted.
Shortly after their second album, the group split on amicable terms and did their own things, aside from a sequel song to “You’re A Jerk,” in 2022. However, they made the song remotely, not seeing each other in person.
It’s safe to say their knees don’t bend as well as they used to, a sentiment we can all relate to.
