Literally days after Jay Z released his critically acclaimed TIDAL exclusive album 4:44 it is being reported that Kanye West is leaving TIDAL stating that the company owes him over $3 million according to TMZ. Kanye claims that he hasn’t been reimbursed for music videos as promised and he hasn’t received his bonus promised after his album “The Life Of Pablo” gained TIDAL 1.5 million new subscribers.
TMZ sources say Tidal’s position is that Kanye didn’t deliver the videos required by the contract. Kanye’s response “I’ll deliver the videos when you pay me what I’m owed.”
TMZ sources say a month ago Kanye’s lawyer sent a letter to Tidal, saying the company was in breach and the contract was terminated. Over the next 2 weeks lawyers for both sides tried to resolve the conflict but failed. TMZ was told 2 weeks ago Kanye’s lawyer fired off a second letter declaring again the contract was over.
Tidal fired sent a letter to Kanye, stating as far as the company was concerned it still had an exclusive contract with the rapper and if he tried to go to another streaming service they’d sue him.
This new coming after Jay bashed Kanye on his 4:44 album. We’ll see how this unfolds.
