TLC has shared an official update on Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins’ health following concern from fans over her recent absence from the group’s “It’s Iconic: The Tour.”
According to a statement from TLC manager Bill Diggins, T-Boz is currently recovering from a sickle cell crisis. Watkins has lived with sickle cell disease throughout her life, and recovery from a crisis can take anywhere from several days to several weeks.
The statement says T-Boz is improving each day and that her current condition is not considered life-threatening. Her health and recovery remain the priority, and she plans to return to the tour once she is fully recovered and medically cleared to perform.
In the meantime, fellow TLC member Chilli will continue performing each night until T-Boz is able to rejoin her on stage.
The group also used the health update to recognize September as National Sickle Cell Awareness Month, encouraging fans to learn more about the disease, donate blood if they are able and support families affected by sickle cell disease.
