Trae tha Truth was out driving through the flooded Houston area roads in his high-water truck, helping residents reach safety with the help of his cohort, Justin “DJ Rogers” Rogers.
This isn’t new for Trae and Rogers. Along with any willing and able volunteers, the two helm “Relief Gang,” formed during Hurricane Harvey in 2017 as they helped victims of storm’s devastating destruction.
“We started at 7 p.m. and were out until around 3 a.m.,” Trae told Chron.com.
“We were all around town, from the southeast side to the southwest side. Then I received a call that some kids were stranded at their school.”
Woodridge Forest Middle School was surrounded by high water, trapping students and school staff inside.
As Trae and Rogers neared Woodridge, Trae said, it was chaos as they made their way along flooded streets, passing a number of stalled cars.
Finally reaching the school, Relief Gang members began shuttling the children and adults out of the building to their homes and cars, also assisting stranded drivers as they made their way back and forth through the flooded area.
“I saved around 60 people. Mr. Rogers did around the same,” Trae said.
