R&B singer Trey Songz is back in the news again. And as you might expect, it’s not for anything good.
Trey Songz Arrested in New York City
Songz, born Tremaine Neverson, was arrested in New York City over the weekend. After being involved in two separate violent incidents.
The first occurred at Mira, a New York City hookah lounge. According to the New York Post, Neverson broke “around $1,500 worth of restaurant property, including hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas.” Songz was charged with mischief in the second degree for the incident.
However, Songz’s spree of violence did not stop there. Later that night, Songz and some friends attended Dramma Nightclub in Times Square. A nightclub that he frequents, according to the complaint. After being told that the nightclub was closing on Sunday morning, Trey became “needlessly irate” and punched one of the Dramma employees in the face. As a result of the dustup, Songz was charged with assault in the second degree. Additionally, the nightclub employee was granted an order of protection against the R&B star.
Songz was released on his own recognizance on the charges after appearing in Manhattan criminal court on Sunday evening, December 14.
In the aftermath of the nightclub incident, Trey’s attorney, Mitchell Schuster, said that his client was acting in self-defense. After he was
approached by a group of people “who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him.” Schuster also says that it was Songz’s security team that intervened in the altercation, but he was still arrested in the aftermath.
Songz’s attorney also believes that his client is being treated unfairly because of his celebrity status.
