Tyga has caused quite a bit of controversy with his AI album. Many people have come out to pan the project, including Doja Cat.

His album, Starface, received the shocking 0/10 from Pitchfork, their first in 19 years.

Writer Drew Millard tore it to shreds, calling it “a piece of s***.”

$TARFACE is smug and complacent, an amalgam of ’80s synth-pop and disco slapped together by someone who’s seemingly never cared to listen to one synth-pop or disco record in his life,” Millard wrote. “The rapper’s slop-pop concept album is smug and complacent and depressing. Its very existence has made the world a worse place.”

Many critics and fans have panned Tyga’s AI experiment, roasting it exponentially.

“First 100% accurate Pitchfork rating, they hit the nail right on the head The official genre name for AI music should be slop pop from now on,” one user posted.

“This brings me so much joy. We should be shaming people more for stuff like this. @Tyga you deserve all the hate that comes with trying to lazily make a talentless comeback”

“Still too high of a rating,” another user posted.

Tyga Spills The Beans

Tyga admitted to using AI for the project in an interview with Vibe, despite originally telling People magazine he did not.

“For sure,” he responded when asked if he used AI for the album. “That’s the thing. I’ve never spoken on this with anybody because I always felt like it’s similar to a magician explaining how he does his tricks. Like why are people overexplaining how they make shit that’s good? If you like it, you like it; if you don’t, you don’t. I don’t care. It’s supposed to give you an experience and a feeling. But we definitely used AI as a [tool]. And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going. It’s no different than when Auto-Tune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it.”

Doja Cat made sure people knew where she stood on the matter.

“Nobody asked me anything about Tyga but I just felt like saying this, Doja Cat told her live chat. “Tyga is a penis for making an AI album.”

So far, the album has failed to chart, selling less than 2,000 copies.
