U.K. rapper Ghetts has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 20-year-old student in northeast London.
The 41-year-old artist — real name Justin Clarke-Samuel — previously pleaded guilty to causing the death of Yubin Tamang by dangerous driving. Prosecutors said Ghetts was driving his BMW M5 at more than 60mph in a 30mph zone when he struck Tamang in Ilford on October 18, 2025, and fled the scene. The student died two days later.
In court, Ghetts admitted drinking three glasses of brandy and was found to be over the legal limit. Judge Mark Lucraft KC also banned him from driving for 17 years.
Before the crash, the rapper reportedly ran six red lights, drove on the wrong side of the road, mounted the curb, and hit both a motorcyclist and a Mercedes.
Ghetts rose to prominence in the U.K. scene with collaborations alongside Skepta, Stormzy, and Ed Sheeran, and earned multiple honors from the MOBO Awards. He also appeared in the Netflix series Supacell, portraying a character known as Krazy.
