Nicki Minaj’s appearance at far-right organization Turning Point USA’s conference has left the industry shellshocked. Minaj appeared on stage with Erika Kirk, the wife of slain right-wing podcaster Charlie Kirk. And as a result, she has received a lot of criticism. The latest to weigh in is rap legend Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell.
Uncle Luke Goes Off on Nicki Minaj
In a recent rant, Uncle Luke questioned why Nicki would appear at such an event. Especially given the history of what Charlie Kirk has said about black people.
“What the f**k are you doing? Can somebody talk to her… Nicki Minaj, Turning Point? Do you really know what these f*cking people are all about? You know what they’re on?” the rap star said during a recent livestream (via LiveBitez).
“You’re going to sit down with [Charlie] Kirk’s wife? These people said everything in the world about Black people. They deliberately targeted Black people… Nicki, have you lost your f*cking mind?”
Uncle Luke is not the only industry cohort to aim at Minaj. On a recent episode of the Joe Budden Podcast, the media savant insisted that this is the final straw. Citing that he is officially “done” supporting the rap star. He also referred to her appearance at Turning Point USA’s conference as a “hot mess.”
“Didn’t see ‘All little girls matter?’ It was a hot mess on that stage,” Budden said of Minaj. “There’s no way to sugarcoat it. I’m done. I’m off… An ounce of Black is Black enough for me. So, when you stand next to people who have made their agendas very clear as it pertains to Black people, then that means you’re complicit… It’s hurtful when people take all of that equity built in Black sh*t and do that with it.”
Amid the backlash, Minaj has deactivated her Instagram. It will be interesting to see if she responds.
