Vic Mensa has his sights set on playing one of music’s most iconic figures.
During a recent interview shared by Rock The Bells, the Chicago rapper and actor revealed that portraying Prince on the big screen is at the top of his bucket list.
“Yeah, I want to play Prince in a biopic. That’s my ultimate goal,” Mensa said.
While there’s currently no official Prince biopic in development, Mensa may have more acting chops than some fans realize. Beyond music, he’s appeared in The Chi, Bel-Air, and even played a character named Prince in the 2020 film Akilla’s Escape.
Taking on the role would be no easy task. Prince remains one of the most influential artists of all time, with a legendary catalog and a larger-than-life legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Although a traditional biopic hasn’t been announced, reports suggest a Prince-inspired jukebox musical film is in the works from Sinners director Ryan Coogler. No release date has been revealed.
For now, Mensa is making it clear: if Hollywood ever decides to tell Prince’s story, he wants the call.
