Megan Thee Stallion has become a target for several people in the hip-hop community after her 2020 shooting incident with rap star Tory Lanez. But rap artist Vic Mensa is standing 10 feet down behind her.
Vic Mensa Comes to Megan Thee Stallion’s Defense
In a reel posted to his Instagram account earlier this month, Vic said that Megan is “a good barometer for what you think about Black women.” And recalled a recent conversation he had with an associate. An associate who claimed that she was “ruining” people’s lives. But Mensa questions how that could be the case if she were the victim in her situation.
“How can you ruin somebody’s life by them shooting you? ‘How could you do this to me? You ran your body directly into my bullets!'”
Mensa also referenced the double standard between men and women in the rap industry. He pointed out how “male artists are celebrated for shooting people” while “female artists are denigrated for getting shot.”
“Let a rapper kill somebody, their [music] sales go through the goddamn roof. People are like, ‘Man, that’s a real n***a,’ he said.
He also says that the same double standard exists when it comes to artists who talk about sex.
“Male artists are celebrated for having as much sex as humanly possible. For a woman, relationships you’ve had are used as justification for you to die,” he added.
In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of felony assault for shooting Megan in the foot during an argument. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Lanez is scheduled to be released in 2033. However, he will be eligible for parole in November 2029.
