Vince Staples is getting with the times. He took to social media to announce how he’s rolling out his new album Cry Baby.
How Is Vince Staples Premiering Cry Baby
On Friday (May 29th) Staples announced he’d livestream his album approximately at 9pm PST/12 EST on Thursday evening. This won’t be early, like how Drake premiered Iceman a few hours before it dropped on DSPs.
In the video, Staples heavily edits what he says, bleeping out most of what’s in store for the event. This will continue his rollout which began with a message to his fans teasing new music on his exclusive discord and newsletter. Next, he dropped an intensely controversial music video for his single “Blackberry Marmalade.” The video featured a first person view from an unknown shooter, killing several people, including Staples, in and outside a diner.
From there, some details about the album were leaked on Reddit. According to a fan attending a rehearsal session for the album, Vince Staples is changing directions sonically as opposed to his recent work.
“no question that this is a rock album,” the user said. “They locked up our phones so no videos but best believe every song sounded awesome. i think big bad wolf and running man were my favorites. Been hyped for the album but now i really can’t wait. can already tell vince has done it again.”
The user also stated that Vince Staples brought out a full band, complete with several guitarists and a drummer.
