May 2 was the first new music Friday of the month. And one of the surprise drops was Westside Gunn tapping Grammy winner Doechii for the remix of his song, “Egypt.”

The song kicks off with an interview clip where Doechii is talking to Apple Music’s DJ Ebro about some of her favorite artists. Among her faves are the late legend MF Doom and of course, Westside Gunn
“Lately I’ve been into a lot of MF DOOM, rest in peace. Westside Gunn — he’s so talented,” she says in the clip.
Westside Gunn Shows Love to Doechii
Following the release of the remix, Westside Gunn showed love to Doechii
“I wanna Thank [Doechii] for this Body Bag!!!! She’s ALWAYS given me my [flowers] and I’m forever grateful and humble,” he said in a May 1 social media post.
“You didn’t have to bless me like this fresh from the Grammy win I REALLY [love heart emoji] this record it’s so FUN!!!!”
The Griselda leader also had high praise for the Grammy winner for delivering her first with such a quick turnaround.
“I ALSO wanna say she bodied this the same day she heard the record last week, a true Emcee and she deserves everything she got, let’s keep pushing ART & CULTURE, and let’s push this to the masses!!!!!!!!” he added.

The reason Gunn is so appreciative of Doechii for such a quick turnaround could have something to do with the relatability. He recorded his 2024 project,11, all in one day as well. 11, is one of those Gunn projects where he wears his heart on his sleeve. The album is dedicated to two of his closest friends that he lost. The rap artist has admitted that the project is so deeply personal that sometimes it is hard for him to listen to.
“I do wanna say this, It’s Hard for me to listen to it, I’ve cried every single time I’ve played it,” he wrote. “I made it all [in] one day just back to back after speaking to SLY [Green] from prison, hearing Inf voice calling me, hearing [Keisha] Plum gave me the chills bc she’s who called me to tell me, and knowing SLY still got life.”.
