Whoopi Goldberg is an icon with accolades aplenty. One of the very few Black women to win an EGOT, Goldberg’s career spans decades with major success.

So, it makes people wonder, why is she still on the View?
In a new interview, she explained everything.
“I’m well-paid, and I do a good job. I earn my dough, and sometimes people like it, sometimes they don’t. No one is going to pay me guy money to be in a movie. I get what I can, have as good a time as I can, and I don’t really worry about it too much…”
Goldberg also explained that Barbara Walters approached her for her opinions and she took that seriously, saying she needed a job.

She also revealed she had no idea she had won an EGOT until her appearance in 30 Rock.
“I had never heard of such a thing until I did Tracy Morgan’s show 30 Rock [in 2009], where his character is looking to become an EGOT. I said to him as we were shooting, ‘Can you explain what this is?’ He said, ‘You don’t know what this is?’ I didn’t know I had done that.”
She then explained her desire to make Sister Act 3, while reflecting on how she got movie roles in the first place.
“The truth of the matter is, very few times has anybody said, ‘Do you want to be in this movie?’ I know and you know that I’m Black. Apparently, this comes as a surprise to people. So I would say, ‘Gee, I’d love to read for that.’ And they’d go, ‘Oh, no, there’s not a part for you.’ Most of the movies I have made, I got the job because some bigger star said they didn’t want to do it. Jumpin’ Jack Flash was for Shelley Long. Sister Act was for Bette Midler. Burglar was for Bruce Willis. I know all the names.
