Will Smith will reportedly have therapy to help resolve issues from his youth after he hit Chris Rock at the Oscars following a joke the comedian made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Will has apologized for his behavior, was said to be ‘deeply triggered’ by the joke Chris Rock made about Jada’s hair amid her struggle with alopecia (it has been reported that the comedian did not know about her condition).
Smith, who has been open in the past about the abuse he saw from his father towards his mother in his younger years, was reportedly reminded of that time in his life.
A source close to Mark Manson, who co-wrote Smith’s 2021 memoir Will, said the actor is ‘horrified by the turn of events and is filled with a deep sense of shame.’
They added to The Sun: ‘He is happy to have some more therapy for his unresolved childhood issues and will do what he can to make good on his momentary lapse in judgment.
