The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has seen a major boom over the last few years. So much so that it has infiltrated the food, film, and even music industry to some degree. And while many people have adopted and welcomed the use of AI, others have not been as open — such as rap star Wiz Khalifa. Especially when it comes to movies.
Wiz Khalifa Blasts Scream 7 Over A.I. Usage & Content
Scream 7 was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. However, Khalifa was not too pleased with the new film, due to its heavy AI usage.
“The thing that was trash about it was the use of AI and deepfake,” he said at around the 22:15 minute mark (via Complex).
“You can tell some writer just was like, ‘We have to add this,’” he added, “and that s**t is so forced and f*****g corny, bro.
Khalifa also suggested making movies about things that could potentially happen in the future. Rather than focusing on topics that are hot right now.
“Y’all should let people make movies about shit that’s going to happen later. Like, not try to base it so much off of right now that you just completely lose the plot,” he continued. “That s**t is trash because you’re trying to capitalize so much off of what’s going on right now that you’re not even really fucking getting the point.”
Despite Khalifa’s criticism, Scream 7 had a pretty solid outing at the box office. The film has grossed over $150 million against a $45 million budget. The opening week was even more impressive. Achieving a franchise-best $63.6 million weekend with a global debut exceeding $97 million.
