While it seems like the PlayStation has cornered the video game market, the Xbox has something to say.
Xbox President Teases Company’s Next Gaming Console
Xbox is preparing to drop its next-gen console. However, if you thought the PlayStation 5 was too expensive, you might want to consider sitting this one out. In a new interview with Mashable on YouTube, Xbox President Sarah Bond says that the new console could run consumers a pretty penny.
“The next-gen console is going to be a very premium, very high-end curated experience,” she said.
Bond also teased the company’s next gaming console in a new interview with Variety.
“We have our next-gen hardware in development. We’ve been looking at prototyping and designing. We have a partnership we’ve announced with AMD around it, so that is coming,” she said.
This comes on the heels of the company’s most recent release. The Xbox Ally. The company’s first handheld gaming console. After PlayStation had seemingly cornered the market with the release of the PS5, some consumers felt that the company was transitioning out of the console market. But Bond says that the goal was always just to give consumers another option.
“What we saw here was an opportunity to innovate in a new way and to bring gamers another choice, in addition to our next-gen hardware,” she added. “We are always listening to what players and creators want. When there is demand for innovation, we’re going to build it.”
She also added: “We want to make sure that people have a choice. We want to make sure there’s an option for the power players who want the latest innovations, who want to push the edge of what’s possible, the most demanding players. And then, if someone is looking for PC gaming on the go, they’re a casual gamer, they’re a gaming enthusiast, then there’s Xbox Allys for them. Giving multiple choices for people, so we can actually meet people where they are.”
