There has been reported friction between rap stars Gunna and Young Thug. Ever since YSL was swept up in a RICO investigation back in 2022. While Young Thug has remained mum about it — at least in the public eye– several clips of a jail call between him and rap star 21 Savage have surfaced. In one of the clips he expresses his true feelings toward his former YSL co-star.
Young Thug Finally Dishes on His Beef With Gunna
Young Thug believes that it was Gunna’s plea deal that made the case a RICO.
“This is what he did. He gave the jurors the agreement that it’s a gang,” Young Thug says in the leaked phone call. “He said YSL is a gang and that he knows people in this trial who committed crimes in furtherance of the gang. That’s a RICO. So if a n***a gets found on a RICO, that means you really got a n***a life took n***a”
Young Thug explains in his own words how he feels Gunna threw him under the bus:

Gunna was indicted when the feds swept up several YSL affiliates in July 2022. He only spent a short time in custody. Because he entered an Alford plea. Under such an agreement, Gunna admitted to knowing members of the gang who committed crimes while also maintaining his innocence, which allowed him to be released.
However, many people have confused Gunna’s Alford plea with his cooperating with authorities for a lesser charge. But his attorney, Steve Sadow, shut down those allegations in January 2025.
“Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea. Gunna’s plea could not and was not used at Thug’s trial, and he was never even named as a witness,” Sadow said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Conversely, Thug went to trial and eventually pled guilty and nolo after spending 30 months in jail, received 15 years probation, with reporting conditions, and is not even allowed to live in Atlanta. THOSE THAT HAVE AND CONTINUE TO BAD MOUTH GUNNA, GET OVER IT. NUFF’ SAID.”
