Young Thug touched down at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash this weekend and reminded everyone why his name still rings bells. In his first major U.S. performance since being released from prison in late 2024, Thugger closed out the Chicago fest with a stacked set full of surprises—including unreleased tracks, deep cuts, and some heavyweight cameos.
The YSL rapper brought out Travis Scott, Ken Carson, and T.I. for a high-energy homecoming that doubled as a sneak preview of his long-teased album UY Scuti. Ken Carson even hopped on a new track reportedly titled “R.I.P. Scuti,” giving fans the first live taste of what’s to come.
UY Scuti Coming Soon
Thug first announced UY Scuti back in April, using a cryptic Coachella billboard and a slick new website to tease merch and content. But it wouldn’t be a Thug rollout without some chaos: select media outlets were sent glass terrariums containing live tarantulas, each with a note that read, “Take care of me until we reach UY SCUTI.” If you weren’t sure Thug was back in his bag, now you know.
This Summer Smash set hits harder when you consider the context. Thug was supposed to headline the 2022 edition of the festival alongside Gunna—but both were arrested on RICO charges before ever hitting the stage. Two years later, he’s not only free but back commanding festival crowds like nothing changed.
Thug’s longtime girlfriend Mariah the Scientist may have also stirred the pot by hinting at a potential release date in the comment section of one of his recent IG posts. No official date has dropped yet, but with new songs debuting and the spider stunt still fresh, the UY Scuti rollout is already feeling like vintage Thug: unpredictable, theatrical, and straight from outer space.
If this weekend was any sign, the next chapter of Thugger’s career is going to be wild—and fans are ready for liftoff.
