Young Thug has engaged in his fair share of rap beefs throughout his career. But none more notable than his beef with Grammy-award winner, Lil Wayne, when he first stepped on the music scene.
Thugger inserted himself into Lil Wayne’s beef with his father, Birdman, over a contractual dispute in 2018. At the time, Young Thug was signed to Birdman’s Rich Gang music label. So he sided with Birdman at the height of his and Lil Wayne’s beef. To add insult to injury, he named his 2015 mixtape, Barter 6. Which was a clear shot at Weezy’s Tha Carter album series.
Things got so serious between the two that when Lil Wayne’s tour bus was shot up in Atlanta in 2018, many people alleged that Young Thug orchestrated the hit.
Young Thug Details Current Relationship With Lil Wayne
A decade has passed since their beef. And both sides appear to have squashed whatever differences they had. During a recent appearance on The Pivot podcast, Thug revealed that he and Weezy have mended fences. The YSL founder also noted that their past differences were based on what other people would say to Lil Wayne. But now that he isn’t “on the internet” anymore, he can formulate his own opinion.
“He [Lil Wayne] ain’t on the internet,” Thug said. “He was just like going off of what people would say to him or what fans would say. So, he ain’t looking at the internet. He’ll just be at one of his shows, and his fans’ll be, ‘Hey, f**k Young Thug. That ni** just wanna be you. He’s a bi**h. He wore a dress.’ He was feeding off that typa sh*t.”
Thugger Teases Collab Album With Weezy
Thugger also says that presently, his and Lil Wayne’s relationship is “way better.” He also says that he and the New Orleans native have a collab album on the way.
“Me and him got a way better relationship now. We got an album and everything,” Young Thug noted. “We just ain’t sat down and just put the sh*t together and release the album together.”
