It appears Mariah the Scientist’s hopes have become reality, as her longtime boyfriend Young Thug popped the question during a live performance.
On Tuesday, footage began circulating online showing Young Thug proposing to Mariah in front of a packed crowd. The rapper pulled out an engagement ring as the words “Will You Marry Me” lit up the screen behind him. The moment took place while Thug was performing at his Hometown Hero: Young Thug & Friends – A Benefit Concert at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Mariah the Scientist has been open about her desire to get married. In a December interview with Angie Martinez, the 28-year-old singer shared that she’s ready to “settle down” and views marriage as a personal goal. She also spoke about wanting “at least one” child, explaining that she plans to start there and see how things unfold.
“I just want a commitment that doesn’t involve an obligation to a baby,” Mariah said at the time. “I just want it to be out of love, not out of responsibility.”
