When Young Thug was swept up by the feds in May 2022, the expectation was that he would spend the rest of his life in prison. Fortunately for the rap star, that did not happen.
Young Thug Suggests His YSL Trial Verdict Made Positive Impact
Instead, Thugger was sentenced to time served after spending more than 900 days in custody. And handed down 15 years of probation as part of a non-negotiated plea deal agreement. During a recent interview, the rap star says that since his case was settled, the conviction rate in Atlanta has gone down significantly. And saluted his attorney, Brian Steel.
“The conviction rate has gone down, bro. More black men are going to trial and winning since my case. That’s a real scientific fact. And Brian [Steel] makes it his business to tell me this at least once a month,” Young Thug said as caught by ThuggerDaily on X.
Thug also says that Steel helped change the narrative. And as a result, more people are willing to take their cases to trial. As opposed to just accepting the plea deals that are offered to them.
“He changed the narrative, bro. Like in these judicial systems, these lawyers and public defenders get way more m**********n action now. They are getting way more money now,” the rap star added. “Because n****s ain’t just pleading out and getting their rights taken away. You know people aren’t just doing that. They’re fighting for their lives like ‘nah ya’ll just trying to scare me, ya’ll just trying to lock me up, no I’m going to trial f**k you.'”
