On Tuesday, Les Ardentes music festival announced that the Atlanta rapper will headline the event this summer. Thugger’s performance, which is scheduled for July 5 in Belgium, will be his first live set since his arrest in 2022.

Other notable artists like J Balvin and Ken Carson will also perform at the festival.

Despite the announcement, Young Thug has yet to comment and remains without any scheduled U.S. shows.

His silence may stem from an ongoing legal battle with entertainment powerhouse AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group).

The company asserts that Thugger has failed to repay a $5.25 million loan they had granted him in 2017. As a result, AEG claims the rapper has relinquished the copyright to his publishing to their company. Additionally, they claim his loan default gave them control over promoting his live performances.

AEG previously sued Young Thug in 2022 for almost $6 million for breach of contract. In a statement AEG lawyer Kathleen Jorrie alleged that Young Thug and his label “failed and refused to honor their respective obligations” by “disregarding AEG’s rights, performing concerts without AEG’s involvement, and retaining all proceeds generated therefrom.”

Young Thug is yet to respond to the lawsuit and it is not known how it will affect the festival appearance in Belgium and other live dates going forward. Meanwhile, he remains locked in a legal fight with the government over assets taken during raids on his home—most notably, a stash of cash, high-end jewelry, and several luxury vehicles.
