Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 rap feud fed families. It was one of the more memorable moments in hip hop over the last decade.
Young Thug Weighs in on Drake, Kendrick Lamar
After Kendrick’s smash hit “Not Like Us” tore up the charts and eventually led to him headlining the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, an overwhelming majority declared the Compton rapper victorious.
Some have even hinted that due to the result, Kendrick has surpassed Drake in the all-time rankings. But Young Thug doesn’t see things that way. During a recent stream with Adin Ross, the Atlanta artist said he still believes that Drake has had more of an overall impact in the music game.
“I gotta say, Drake. He just did more, he put more people on,” he explained via @big_business_ on X. “Not saying that Kendrick didn’t put anybody on, but Drake just did more. He put more people on, and he got more numbers. Numbers-wise, statistically, impact on the culture, impact on the world.”
However, he still gave Kendrick Lamar his flowers.
“Kendrick Lamar got a hell of an impact,” he continued. “He’s for sure No. 1 ever in life who could possibly come out of L.A. Nobody in L.A. could ever ever ever be better than him. He is the GOAT of the whole West Coast, for sure. Well, I don’t know, I’d probably say Nipsey, but number-wise… I like Nipsey better, too, but I think number-wise Kendrick Lamar beat him.”

The Metro Atlanta music scene has taken center stage in hip-hop. But it began way before Thug’s phone calls or interrogation video ever leaked. During Lamar and Drake’s rap feud, it also became a topic of discussion. After Kendrick accused Drake of using Atlanta artists such as Lil Baby and Young Thug whenever he needs a hit record.
In fact, Lamar actually mentions Young Thug by name. Noting that the rap star makes Drake feel like he is part of Thug’s gang, Young Slime Life.
