The viral RICO trial that was headlined by Young Thug and his YSL record label ruled the hip-hop headlines for the better part of the last two years. And it appears to be the gift that keeps on giving. According to a new report from AllHipHop, Nicole Fegan, one of the defense attorneys in the trial, has been indicted.
YSL Defense Attorney Booked on Trafficking Charges
According to the outlet, Fegan was booked in Fulton County on July 21 after being brought up on “charges including drug trafficking and gang activity tied to her conduct during the trial.”
Specifically related to YSL affiliate, Tenquarius Mender, who was incarcerated during the trial. Authorities allege that Fegan abused her role as legal counsel to “aid criminal operations, including smuggling methamphetamine, oxycodone, and marijuana.”
Young Thug Sounds Off on RICO Trial
Rap star Young Thug was the main subject of the YSL trial. As the person who was named the leader of YSL, the “Danny Glover” creator was facing up to 40 years in prison if he was convicted. He wasn’t found innocent. But the 15 years of probation he received was a slap on the wrist considering the decades he was facing.
However, the time that he spent in prison wasn’t in vain. The rap star says during his incarceration, he had a lot of time to reflect about who he actually is.
“Even just the things that the judge said when it was over for me. The judge was just like, ‘Yo, you got to realize who you are,’” he recalled to GQ. “My lawyer, Brian Steel, he always told me every day, like, ‘Bro, you got to know. You got to know.’ And then me just sitting in the cell every night alone, it was just kind of like, ‘I’m big.’”
Still, even though the time he spent behind bars was an eye-opener for the rap star, he maintains his innocence. And is happy that he gets the opportunity to “keep fighting.”
“Just pleading to something you know that you didn’t do is crazy,” he said. “But you get a chance to keep fighting. [You can] worry about the jury’s fate, or you [can] just go ahead now and go home. It’s like s—t, go home.”
