50 Cent is continuing his quest to take over television and film. He recently gave fans a major update on his next project.
50 Cent Teases New ‘Power’ Spinoff
50 Cent has long teased the development of Power: The Origin—a prequel series of the original Power series, which starred Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora. On Sunday (January 18), 50 Cent posted a photo to his social media account. Featuring himself and actors Spence Moore II and Charlie Mann, who will play a young James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
“POWER THE ORIGIN COMING SOON, we’re working, let’s get it!” the Power creator captioned his social media post.
Fans in the comments section of the post shared their excitement about the upcoming film project.
“This will be another blockbuster!!!!” one fan wrote underneath the Instagram post.
“I can’t be the only one waiting for the theme song for this one,” another user added.
Several other people flooded the comments section with fire emojis.
It remains unclear if the series will air on the Starz network like his several other productions. 50 has had a tumultuous relationship with the network. He has threatened to pull his shows from Starz on several different occasions.
In addition, the rap star and his company, G-Unit Film & Television, finalized a landmark deal. To invest over $124 million into a multi-phase entertainment redevelopment project in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The project is designed to transform downtown Shreveport into a major production and live entertainment hub.
With 50 also having productions on other platforms such as Network, Hulu, and even his own network, 50 Cent Action, his need for the Starz network is nowhere near what it was when he first dipped his toe in the film industry.
Power: The Origin will pick up from the series finale of Raising Kanan, which is set to air later this year.
