Nearly seven years after the release of his last Tha Carter installment, Lil Wayne is officially gearing up for Tha Carter VI. The New Orleans rap icon kicked off the album’s rollout on Tuesday (April 22), revealing the cover art on social media and announcing the release date: June 6.
The newly unveiled artwork pays homage to the series’ iconic visuals, channeling the energy of Tha Carter III and Tha Carter IV. It features a baby version of Weezy, beaming and inked with his signature face tattoos—a nod to the past while hinting at a bold future.
Alongside the cover drop, fans got a taste of the official merch line. The collection includes a standard vinyl for $30 and a CD for $14. Signed editions are also available—$37 for vinyl and $18 for CDs. For those wanting to wear their fandom, there’s a $45 t-shirt and a $100 hoodie showcasing each Carter album cover.

Wayne also teased what’s to come musically—and it’s shaping up to be a genre-blending experience. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he described the album’s creative direction as exploratory. “If there’s one thing about this album that’s different, it’s me approaching it like, ‘Man, what would I sound like on something with such and such?’” he shared.
That open-minded approach led to an eclectic lineup of collaborators, including pop star Miley Cyrus, U2’s Bono, and operatic powerhouse Andrea Bocelli. Also featured are Machine Gun Kelly, dancehall legend Elephant Man, and perhaps most notably, Wayne’s 15-year-old son Kameron.
The production side is equally impressive, with Wyclef Jean and Wheezy handling most of the beats. Ye (formerly Kanye West) also contributed a track, though its inclusion on the final album remains uncertain.
Elsewhere in the interview, Wayne hinted at a potential follow-up to his and Birdman’s 2006 joint project Like Father, Like Son—but this time with his own sons, Kameron, Dwayne III, and Neal, all of whom are pursuing music careers of their own.
