The late Notorious B.I.G. also known as Biggie Smalls is widely regarded as one of the greatest lyricists ever. Perhaps the greatest ever. But for as talented of a lyricist as he was, many of his lyrics were controversial. To the point some even became offended.

Tiny Says Biggie Apologized to XSCAPE For Vulgar Lyrics
One group that became offended by Biggie’s lyrics was the 1990s girls group XSCAPE. Although most people found Biggie to be brash and unremorseful, one of the group members, Tiny Harris, said that the rap star apologized after finding out they were offended.
“Somebody came—I don’t know if it was Diddy—somebody came and said Biggie wanna speak to y’all. I was just like, ‘I’m going to see what he’s talking about,'” Tiny said during a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle.
“And you know, he was very nice, he was very apologetic and he basically said, ‘I don’t know what I was thinking. Look, I’m ugly—I’m ugly as hell. Y’all is beautiful, and I just wanted to say I apologize.’”
The lyric that Tiny was referring to came from his 1994 song “Just Playing (Dreams)” where he referred to the members of the famed girl group as “ugly b*****s.”
“I’ll f** k RuPaul before I fuck them ugly ass Xscape b*****s,” he rapped.
“Knowing this lady was sick and she was in a hospice, these guys Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts went on and started working out deals to allegedly sell Big’s publishing, his marketing, all his rights to everything,” Deal said in a recent interview with Art of Dialogue.
“They are working out a deal for them. It ain’t for Miss Wallace, it ain’t for Big’s kids. Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts, are the dudes that Puff put in play. I can’t believe this.”
Voletta Wallace Helped Facilitate Sale of Rapper’s Estate Before Her Death
Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, passed away earlier this month after a long battle with breast cancer. However, she made sure to complete one task before she passed. That was ensuring that the estate’s sale of Biggie’s masters and publishing was completed. Variety says she was actively involved during the entire process.
“The deal closed just weeks after the rapper’s mother, Voletta Wallace, passed away last month. However, sources say she was involved in nearly every aspect of the deal’s negotiations,” Variety writes.
“While terms of the deal were not disclosed, the Wall Street Journal reports that Primary Wave is taking a 50% interest in the estate, which was valued at $200 million.”
