Slick Rick Set To Release New Album ‘Victory’
The 60-year-old has taken a step back from the music industry. His last album, “The Art of Storytelling,” was released in 1999. And the rap legend has not released any new music since then.
But that will all change in June, when Slick Rick will drop his first album in more than 25 years. The project will be titled “Victory” and will be a sequel to his last album, “The Art of Storytelling.”
When speaking about his upcoming project, Slick Rick noted that “Victory” will be an album that “reflects where I’ve been and where I’m going.
“Victory is all about perseverance, storytelling, imagination, and evolution,” Slick Rick said in a statement. “A visual blend of art and heart—a sonic journey that reflects where I’ve been and where I’m going. Victory isn’t just music—it’s a bold in your face statement, showcasing British artistry at its finest!”
Slick Rick’s new project will also feature a visual album. And being that he recorded the Album in London, United Kingdom, it was only right that the rap legend link up with acting legend, Idris Elba, who will serve as executive producer on the film. Elba called the opportunity to work with the legend in his hometown “a blessing.”
“Working with Slick Rick… back home in the UK, and then offering the world of hip-hop something amazing has been a blessing. It’s literally a gift!”
Both the audio and visual albums will be available to the public on June 13.
