Akademiks has wasted no time responding to Ab-Soul after the rapper took shots at him in a newly released song.
On Tuesday, Ab-Soul dropped an untitled track via Instagram, joining the ongoing tension between Joey Bada$$ and several West Coast artists. In the song, Soul issues a direct warning, adding fuel to the recent string of diss tracks that have reignited regional rivalries in hip-hop.
Near the end of the track, Ab-Soul turns his attention to the controversial streamer, threatening to slap him — a line that clearly didn’t sit well with Akademiks.
“Sounds amazing,” Ak tweeted sarcastically. “Just remind that n—a they won’t throw a funeral for him like Nipsey. Keep rapping lil n—a, we ain’t seen you slap nothing yet.”
But Akademiks didn’t stop at X, taking to Twitch that night to deliver a much more heated response.
“If you ever raise a hand on me, it’ll be your last day on earth,” he said during a livestream. “You’ll join Nipsey, King Von, and Pac — all of y’all gonna be having a good time. I hate you pussy-ass rappers.”
Akademiks continued to escalate things, repeatedly calling Ab-Soul “goofy” and brushing off the threat as nothing more than rap posturing. At one point, he even gave out an address in Jersey City, daring the rapper to confront him in person.
Not stopping there, he extended an open invitation to Ab-Soul to slap him at the Toronto stop of Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “GNX” tour on June 12.
“I’ve been praying and begging for one of y’all rap n****s to give an example,” Ak added.
As of now, Ab-Soul has not responded to Akademiks’ threats.
