An exhibition match between boxing stars Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis was scheduled to take place. At the Kaseya Center in Miami on November 14. But that fight is now off.
Gervonta Davis, Jake Laul Fight Called Off
In a statement released on Monday Night (November 3), Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) CEO Nakisa Bidarian said that the company chose to “not move forward” with the fight, which was scheduled to air on Netflix. Instead, they are now eyeing a new opponent for the social media star.
“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” Bidarian said in a statement (via ESPN). “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized.”
This decision comes after Davis found himself in more legal trouble. According to an October 30 report from ESPN, Davis’ ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel filed a civil lawsuit against him. Where she accused the boxing star of “battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
According to the outlet, the incident occurred at Tootsie’s, a popular Miami gentlemen’s club where Rossel works. Davis allegedly stormed into the restaurant in a rage and attacked Rossell in a back room where no cameras were present.
Rossel also says that the boxing star, “dragged her through a stairwell, kitchen, and the back exit before physically assaulting her in the parking garage.”
She also says that this is not the first instance where Davis has assaulted her. She says that during their five-month relationship, there were “at least” four instances where “he physically assaulted and choked” her.
Davis has yet to respond to these accusations.
