For the second year in a row, NBA Youngboy was named the best rapper of the year by Complex. Adding to his legend as one of the biggest artists of all time.
It’s not hard to see why Youngboy was named the top artist of 2025 by the outlet again.
His most recent project, Make America Slime Again (MASA), sold 50,000 units the first week. And debuted at sixth on the Billboard Hot 200. The accompanying tour for the album grossed over $70-$75 million in revenue. The tour sold over 500,000 tickets across 42 sold-out shows in late 2025, placing it among the highest-grossing rap tours of all time.
Youngboy Sounds Off on Michael Jackson Comparisons
As the legend of NBA Youngboy continues to grow, some have even compared his impact to late pop star Michael Jackson. During a sit-down with Complex, Youngboy addressed those comparisons.
“I feel like certain s**t is exaggerated sometimes. You gotta think about it, they even exaggerate about me sometimes. That’s like going too far,” he said
Youngboy also went on to say that because of his age, he didn’t really “understand the stardom” surrounding the King of Pop.

Despite having one of the most crazed fanbases in the rap industry, many people in the comments section of the social media post seemed to agree with the rapper’s stance.
“Even NBA Youngboy is smart enough to know that his Fans comparing him to Michael Jackson is an Exaggeration,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“He’s not bigger than MJ and will never be,” a second user chimed in.
“Y’all disrespecting mj. He didn’t do much more than sing and dance. He spoke the truth. ” You get you pissed off and act wild,” a third user chimed in.
It will be interesting to see if Youngboy goes for the three-peat in 2026.
