J. Cole addresses everything during his recent appearance on Cam’ron’s Talk With Flee podcast. Including the creative process behind his seventh studio album, The Fall Off.
J. Cole Originally Wanted Kendrick & Drake on ‘The Fall Off’
One of the things Cole revealed about his last drop is that he originally planned on having Kendrick Lamar and Drake on the album.
“On my way out, I wanted to celebrate that, damn, I’m really grateful to have done it at the same time as these n****s,” he said (via Kurrco/X).

That plan got nixed after Kendrick dropped his infamous verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s Like That. Lamar aimed at Cole and Drake. That led to a civil war in hip-hop, and the effects are still being felt today.
Drake accused Kendrick’s longtime associate, Dave Free, of being the actual father of Kendrick’s child. And Kendrick accused Drake of being a “certified pedophile.” There may be no chance of a reconciliation between Kendrick and Drake. However, Cole says he has been in touch with both of them in the aftermath. But also admits that it’s been minimal.
“I genuinely love these n****s. I ain’t gonna act like we’ve been communicating and talking. I’ve had conversations with them post-everything, you know what I mean? Like after the fact. But it’s not like it’s a lot,” he said (via Kurrrco/X).
Drake is set to release his next project, Iceman, later this year. It will be his first solo album since he feuded with Lamar back in 2024. Do you think Cole will be featured on the upcoming project?
