On the Wednesday (April 1) episode of the Joe Budden Podcast, the rapper-turned-podcaster gave his honest assessment of Kanye West’s new Bully album.

Overall, Budden appeared to be impressed with Ye’s new project. With a particular nod to the production of the album.
“I absolutely love the production. I still hear where everything is missing… It does have a demo-ish feel,” he said in a clip shared by HotNewHipHop on X.
He also adds: “Yeah, it ain’t mid. I’m not doing that. It’s not mid. I know we don’t know what mid is today.”

However, not everyone has been as receptive of Bully as Budden has. Notably Pitchfork.
In their assessment of West’s new project, the outlet rated the album a 3.4 out of ten. They also annihilated the rap star in their review of the album.
“It feels so empty partly because of the shoddy scaffolding—a majority of songs are around two minutes or less and devoid of curveballs,” the outlet wrote. “Damn” is DOA, cycling through the same verse three times like a cursed hymn. Any Ye fan could predict what he says on “I Can’t Wait” before hitting play: jabs at industry execs and conspiratorial mumbling. “Circles” is so laughably undercooked that it almost comes out the other end as a clever meta-statement on his own behavior patterns.”
According to a post from WorldStarHipHop, Ye’s latest studio album is projected to debut with around 250K–275K first-week units. Including roughly 100K in pure sales.
