LeBron James’ recent comments about the city of Memphis have caused quite a stir in the entertainment industry. Cam’ron and Mase responded to his comments on their daily sports talk show, It is What It Is.

Cam’ron & Mase Respond to LeBron’s Memphis Comments

Cam started off the conversation by noting that LeBron has a heavy cross to bear as far as what he says. So he has to be prepared for the criticism that comes with being “the face of the NBA.”

“Whether he likes it or not, he’s the face of the NBA. Or at least one of the faces of the NBA. And what he says carries a lot of weight,” Cam’ron said.

The rapper also noted that he doesn’t necessarily disagree with the former NBA MVP. As he has recently declined to do shows in Memphis himself.

“I’ve been asked to go to shows in Memphis recently. And I haven’t because I just don’t know what’s going on in the city,” he said. “And I don’t mean that in a bad way. But if you take basketball away from Memphis, imagine how bad it would be without a team.”

He went on to say that having a team in Memphis and a standout player like Ja Morant provides entertainment and “something to look forward to,” and if that is taken away from the residents, things could get “bad.”

Mase goes on to say that “anything can happen in Memphis,” whether or not you are a celebrity or not. And references the 2010 death of NBA player Lorenz Wright in Memphis.

LeBron Claps Back at Critics

LeBron caught a lot of heat after he took shots at Memphis. And suggested that the NBA move the team to a bigger city like Nashville. But he hit back at those same critics. Calling the backlash “ridiculous.”

“People are ridiculous. They also get mad at my son (Bronny) being on the (Lakers), too. So what are we talking about? People need to figure out other ways to put their energy into other important things,” he said, as caught by the New York Times.

“Like seriously? I’m not talking about the city, like the people in Memphis. I don’t like staying at the Hyatt Centric. What’s wrong with that? Nothing! What are we talking about? … People need to chill the hell out.”
